This year we still have quite warm weather, but the mornings are beginning to be a little bit chilly. I like autumn. It’s probably my favourite time of year. It’s not too hot so I can breathe and it’s not too cold yet, either. An the colours!!! 🙂
So, every year when I smell first signs of autumn, I feel the need to start preparing our wardrobe.
This year it’ll have to wait just a little bit more as a few of my friends are expecting babies soon, so I figured It’s best to start with the gifts for their newborns.
And what could be cuter as these top knot beanies?
This really is the simplest and fastest projects for babies! If you need a last minute baby gift, this is what you sew! I’m gonna make some sets with onesies, pants & beanies and some blankets.
What you’ll need:
• Fabric: this pattern was intended for use with knits. Fabric with a slight stretch is preferred (jersey, interlock, sweat…). 40 cm / 16 inches
• 15 cm (6 inch) ribb knit for the band (the main fabric works just as fine if you don’t have the ribb knit)
• Coordinating thread
• Scissors / Rotary cutter
• Sewing machine or serger
1.) Print the pattern and cut the right size according to the size guide.
2.) Cut your pieces. Two main hat pieces and one for the hat band.
3.) Place the main hat pieces right sides together and sew all around. Leave the bottom straight edge open. Sew the side seam of band, right sides together.
4.) Turn the hat and band right sides out and mark the middle point on hat and band with small notches.
5.) Place the band on the outside of hat, right sides together, and align the notches. Pin together. Sew all around the bottom.
6.) You’re done!!
